Blk K, Sound Stage at ITE College Central

ITE College Central’s 350m2 Sound Stage is a 8.5m height soundproof facility equipped with scene sets, green-screen and cyclorama to provide authentic hands-on training and learning opportunities for students in the Higher Nitec in Filmmaking (Cinematography) course for the Singapore Film Industry.

The current Sound Stage is built many years ago with a fixed pipegrid at a height of 7.5m. It is almost impossible for the lecturers and students to fully utilize this space for their production. In this upgrade, the school has specified for further enhancement to the existing infrastructure including motorised lighting bars and a mobile tour rack.

12sets of IFF ACTA 20 linear lift hoists are equally distributed in the Sound Stage. They are fully designed and made in Italy meeting all European safety standards such as overload, no-load safety sensors, excessive tilting, etc. Hoists braking design is by self-sustaining fail-safe worm gear. No brake pad or clutch mechanism is involved. All hoists installed are equipped with inverters for its soft-start and soft-stop capability.

Each lighting bar is equipped with 1 XLR 5pin DMX outlet and 4 power socket outlets, patched to both dimming & direct points. Each hoist is capable of lifting load up to 120kg.

IFF SM select controller is mounted at the side for visible and convenient access. The key switch, “dead man” features, emergency stop button and LED indicators are to ensure 100% safety in whole system. A plug-in hand-held hoist wired remote controller allows the user to control the hoists remotely at almost every corner of the space.

We have also introduced a purpose-built mobile rack which housed the hybrid dimmers, circuit-breakers, DMX splitter and lighting console for the lighting bars.

With the above upgrading, students can fully utilise the space and learn more.

Multi-Cam Studio for Nitec in Video Production
at ITE College Central

AVLite was previously involved in Production Studio lighting system in both ITE College East and ITE College West. In the year 2020, the new Multi-Cam Studio in ITE College Central is open to Nitec in Video Production. We are again, extremely honoured to be involved!

It’s the first 4K studio in ITE having full LED Studio Lighting fixtures with adjustable colour temperature and RGB Cyclorama fixtures.

All fixtures involved were selected and specified by ITE lecturers due to their excellent output, performances and reliability. QUARTZCOLOR X-series plus LED Fresnel, fully designed and manufactured in Italy, was used as Key and Backlights. The Korean made TGL LED panel lights as softlights and ETC Colorsource CYC as colour-changing Cyclorama lights. It’s a smart choice as all lightings above were widely in use locally such as Mediacorp Studios, Nanyang Polytechnic Media Studio, Temasek Polytechnic MOI Studio, Singapore Institute of Technology Gener8 Media Studio, Home Team Academy Recording Studio, Ngee Ann Polytechnic FMS TV1 & TV2, etc.

In order to add creativity for their students, the lecturers have added in an LED moving light; ROBE VIVA CMY. This model was selected by the lecturer due to its power-pack features in an elegant and lightweight housing. It is also equipped with selectable fan speeds to meet the studio recording requirement. Moreover, the small & compact size make it a clear choice for the studio.

ETC Colorsource 40 console was selected for its compactness, and most importantly, it’s easy to learn! It can control up to a maximum of 80 devices, up to a single DMX universe.

With the above state-of-the-arts equipment integrated, we believe their students will be having the most benefits.

Home Team Academy, Recording Studio

AVLite was originally involved in the first construction of the HTA recording studio in year 2006. We were very excited & honoured to be able to get involved in the studio lighting upgrading project 13 years later!

The original conventional studio lighting system has given its way to LED studio lighting system, reducing the carbon footprint. At the same time, production crews will have more options to consider in their productions. The LED lightings installed were of variable CCT. Productions can now be carried out either in Daylight CCT or the warmer Tungsten CCT. RGBW CYC lights were installed to replace the previous fluorescent soft CYC lights. Production crew can now utilise the RGBW CYC light to create interesting backdrop lighting effects in their production!

Singapore Institute of Technology, Gener8 Media Studio

Situated within Singapore Institute of Technology’s library, the Media Studio is a very compact, yet multi-purpose TV studio. The studio lighting system is specially designed to cover all corners of the TV studio. The U-shaped backdrop curtain system allow the user to have their main set for interview, talk show, etc. While the pulley-operated paper background system allow a smaller 1-person shot.

User also has a choice of shooting in tungsten or daylight scene thanks to QuartzColor X-series Plus Bi-color fixtures and TGL LED panels supplied. In addition, RGB colour mixing effects can also be achieved with the usage of ETC ColorSource PAR and ColorSource CYC lights!

The ETC ColorSource AV lighting console allow the user to control the lighting system wirelessly via phone or tablet through the Amigo built into the lighting console.

A small, yet feature-pack TV studio indeed!

Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Film & Media Studies, TV 1 & 2

AVLite has successfully upgraded the studio lighting and dimming system at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Film & Media Studies, TV 1 & 2.

The upgrade includes switching out all the conventional tungsten halogen fixtures to LED lightings and upgrading the ETC dimmer rack from the 2nd generation CEM+ to the 3rd generation CEM3. The dimmer modules in the Sensor racks were replaced with relay modules.

QuartzColor LED X-series Plus Fresnel and TGL Lukas LED softlight panels were chosen for the lighting upgrade. These fixtures have the flexibility of having both tungsten and daylight CCT. The QuartzColor LED Fresnel comes with 3 presetting fan speed, while the TGL Lukas LED panels comes fan-free. All 1000W PAR64 previously used have been replaced with ETC ColorSource PAR; and 5000W 4-compartment CYC lights replaced with ETC ColorSource CYC. The above replacement is a step closer to achieve a greener environment.

One Take Studios @ 200 Pandan Gardens

A privately owned multi-purpose studio located at the west coast district of Singapore. The studio which was specially designed for different usage, had an ideal ceiling height of 6m.

IFF trackable aluminium lighting rails concept were introduced to the clients considering its simplicity, durability & versatility. All studio lightings & pantographs were equipped with heavy duty lockable carriages. Lighting technician simply slide & lock for changes in lighting position along the rail!

A DMX lighting control system was also incorporated and connected to the ETC ColorSource lighting console for full control to all lights!

People’s Association, Multimedia Studio

Located at People’s Association, an existing storage room was converted into a compact multimedia studio, meant for video productions, voice-over recordings, photography & more!

Having a limited ceiling height of about 3m, a fixed lighting pipegrid was installed. With careful planning with the designer, we have taken all possibilities to gain as much height to the grid as we can. The lighting system was a full LED-based solution. QuartzColor LED fresnel X3 & X4 were installed, along with TGL Lukas 50 & Lukas 100 as soft lights.

J&C Joel Chromakey green & natural wool serges were installed on a walk-along aluminium curtain rail system. A manfrotto paper backdrop system were installed at the back of the curtains as well. User can simply decide which backdrop to use for their varies shoot.

MEDIACORP (NEWS)

AVLite is very proud to have the opportunity to be involved in Turnkey Studio Lighting Solution for MediaCorp News Studios and varies newsroom in their new campus.

There are a total of 3 news studios & 4 newsrooms in the new campus!
All studios & newsrooms were equipped with state of the arts lighting & control systems; including ETC Smartswitch, ETC ION lighting consoles with the RPU backup capabilities.

Broadcast quality Energy-saving lighting fixtures were finally implemented across all studios & newsroom! The news studios were installed with Cosmolight Brivido fluorescent softlight, QuartzColor X-Series Fresnel Spotlights & ETC ColorSource Par for some interesting Color Effects.

At the newsrooms, 2 sets of Trabes circular trusses were installed at ceiling supporting some Pulsar ChromaFlood & litepanel. ETC Series 2 spotlights were also used for keylights & backlights.

RTB STUDIO 3

AVLite has successfully completed the upgrading of RTB Studio 3 to a full LED lighting Studio.
Lighting equipment consist of Broadcast quality LED Panels. In addition, we had also provided a customised 3-point light training to the technical crew.
This training was conducted by a well-known veteran! It was indeed an eye-opening experience for their lighting skills for the newer type of LED lights in their TV Studio!

TEMASEK MOI STUDIO

We are very proud to be involved in the Design and Installation of the Turnkey studio lighting system for MOI Studio located in School of Design at Temasek Polytechnic. With the fast development of Professional Broadcast LED fixtures, we are now able to fully replace the conventional tungsten halogen fixtures to LED version, without compromising on the power and quality of lights! This move has certainly contributed to energy saving and the school’s effort to lessen carbon footprints!

AVLite has provided 48 nos. of LED fixtures, consisted of Quartzcolor X-series LED Fresnels, ETC Source Four LED CYC and groundrow, ETC Desire LED Wash fixtures.

The suspension system is made up of 20 sets IFF self-climbing hoists, 6 sets IFF scenery hoists and 24 sets of IFF Pole operated pantographs. All motorised hoists are wired up to a centralised hoist control panel complete with a wired remote control.

The drapery system consisted of a dual aluminium curtain rails. One meant for cyclorama backdrop with 2 tensioning frames and a bottom tensioning frame. This 4-sided tensioning system allow the cyclorama to be fully tensioned giving the best effect! The black wool serge curtain and green chromakey curtain are shared on the other curtain rail, allowing users to draw the required piece of backdrop to suit their production needs.

NANYANG POLY MEDIA STUDIO

AVLite has successfully implemented a Turnkey studio lighting solution for the new Media Studio located at Blk D1 of Nanyang Polytechnic, School of Business Management. This studio has further equipped their students with even more opportunities to broaden their production skills!

We have supplied and installed a total of 37 IFF motorised self-climbing hoists including production hoists, backlight hoists, cyclorama and scenery hoists. All hoists are wired to a centralised hoist control panel complete with a wired remote control.

The studio was also designed and installed with FULL LED lightings eliminating the needs of any dimmer rack, at the same time conserving energy! We had also supplied and installed 27 LED lighting fixtures; consisted of Quartzcolor X series Fresnel spotlights, LED panel and ETC Lustr 2 series cyclorama lights. These are fully controllable thru the ETC lighting console located in the control room.

As part of the Turnkey solution, we have installed a seamless cyclorama canvas, 2 pieces of foam-backed chromakey green curtain and a black wool serge curtain for different variety of backdrop effects.

With the above in place, the users can fully utilize these facilities to produce varies type of projects!

GLOBAL TV (JAKARTA, INDONESIA)

Located in the heart of Jakarta, Indonesia. AVLite has successfully supplied and commissioned the studio rigging and draperies for 4 new TV studios at Global TV. A total of 138 sets of self-climbing hoists and scenery hoists were involved in 2 of the bigger production studios.

AMARIN TV (BANGKOK)

AVLite together with our local partner, supplied & installed all fluorescent softlights to Amarin TV, located at Bangkok, Thailand. ETC Smartfade lighting console was chosen for this installation.

NANYANG POLYTECHNIC BLK S, S537

AVLite successfully installed a training workshop located at Blk S of School of Engineering, Nanyang Polytechnic. Scope of work includes to supply and to install 6 nos. of self-climbing hoists equipped with customised power & AV cabling. Projectors & stage dimmers, Extron HDMI Interfaces, etc, were installed onto the hoists; Power, AV and fiber optic cabling were installed from lighting hoists to the floor boxes on the raised floor! Very challenging indeed! One of its kind!

SIM UNIVERSITY ETP STUDIO

A double-volume production studio located at the new SIM University, ETP Studio was equipped with full energy-saving studio lighting system. AVLite also installed the Track & Beam lighting suspension system complete with friction pantographs & ETC Smartfade lighting console

MEDIACORP FM987 STUDIO

Mediacorp Radio FM98.7 was among the first few radio station to be show on air via Mediacorp Toggle! AVLite designed, supplied & installed the lighting truss & pipe to hang the LED & fluorescent studio lighting fixtures. A ‘cool’ installation added to the existing radio county!

MWDTV YANGON ART STUDIO NEWS STUDIO

A studio upgrading project by MWDTV, Yangon, Myanmar. 2 venues were involved; News Studio & ART Studio 1. AVLite installed & commissioned new DEXEL studio lighting fixtures, curtains, cyclorama & curtain tracks, ETC Sensor+ dimmer racks & ETC Element lighting console.

NEWS STUDIO THOI SU & PRODUCTION STUDIO CHUYEN DE QUANG NGAI STUDIOS (VIETNAM)

Thoi Su news studio and Chuyen De production studio located in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. AVLite designed, supplied & commissioned the studio lighting systems for both venues. Systems include Track & Beam lighting suspension, friction pantographs, ETC dimming & controls and DEXEL studio lighting fixtures.

AN GIANG TV THEATRE

Located in An Giang Province, Vietnam. AVLite has successfully designed, supplied & commissioned the studio lighting system. The TV theatre uses track & beam lighting suspension, together with pole operated pantographs & telescopic droparms. ETC Sensor+ dimmer racks, ETC ION lighting console and full range of DEXEL studio lighting fixtures were installed to complete the package.

PRODUCTION THEATRE MYAWADY TELEVISION NAY PYI TAW (MYANMAR)

Another venue in Myawady TV, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar; Production Theatre. AVLite supplied & installed 32 sets of IFF self-climbing hoists, 3 sets of 96-way ETC Sensor+ dimmer racks, ETC ION lighting console as well as full range of TV studio fixtures. AVLite works very closely with MediaCorp Technologies who was the consultant for the whole project.

PRODUCTION STUDIO MYAWADY TELEVISION NAY PYI TAW (MYANMAR)

AVLite is extremely honoured to complete our first production studio in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. The Myawady TV studio involved 46 sets of IFF self-climbing hoists, 3 sets of 96-way ETC Sensor+ dimmer racks, ETC ION lighting console, along with full range of studio lighting fixtures. Beside this production studio, AVLite also installed the News studio and the Production Theatre.

MULTICAM PRODUCTION STUDIO ITE COLLEGE WEST

– STUDIO LIGHTING SYSTEM –

A new double-volume height Multicam Production Studio built in the new ITE College West headquarter located at Chua Chu Kang. AVLite successfully installed the lighting pipegrid system to support the track & beam lighting suspension and the studio lighting fixtures. Dimming & controls, black wool curtains, cyclorama were also installed to complete the studio lighting solution.

SINGAPORE MEDIA ACADEMY HD TRAINING STUDIO

Singapore Media Academy HD Training studio, a space converted from an old cinema Theatre located at Riverside Point. Fully equipped with Track & Beam lighting suspension, curtain tracks with Chromakey curtains & cyclorama canvas, dimming & control system and studio lighting fixtures, is indeed an all-purpose studio for any training purposes.

BINH THUAN TV STUDIO (VIETNAM)

A small talkshow studio located at Binh Thuan Province, Vietnam, featuring track & beam lighting suspension system with friction pantographs. Dimming & control system & studio lighting fixtures were included to complete the studio lighting solution.

RADIO TELEVISION BRUNEI KUALA BELAIT STUDIO

– STUDIO LIGHTING SYSTEM –

AVLite provides a turnkey solution to RTB Kuala Belait studio including rigging, dimming & controls, drapery system & studio lighting fixtures. Two different types of lighting suspension were adopted; one half of the studio was equipped with 12 nos. self-climbing hoists and the other half track & beam lighting suspension was installed.

THE STRAITS TIMES RAZOR TV

– STUDIO LIGHTING SYSTEM –

A small and compact TV studio for Razor TV, located right inside the SPH building. With very limited ceiling height, AVLite successfully designed and installed a track & beam lighting suspension system with single-channel dimmers for the tungsten Fresnel spotlights. Also using DMX-controlled fluorescent softlights, the studio has completely eliminated the requirement of a centralised dimmer rack.

JAKIM TV STUDIO PUTRA JAYA (MALAYSIA)

– RIGGING & MOTORISED HOIST SYSTEM –

Located at Putra Jaya, Malaysia. JAKIM TV studio involved 12nos. IFF self-climbing hoists and 12 IFF motorised pantographs. All hoists wired to a centralised touch-screen hoist control panel and also able to control via the wired remote and wireless radio remote.

MESA PRODUCTION STUDIO HUNG YEN PROVINCE (VIETNAM)

MESA production studio located at Hung Yen Province, Vietnam is equipped with 30 units of IFF self-climbing hoists, full range of studio lighting Fresnels, fluorescent softlights and dimming & control systems. 50pcs friction pantographs were included to add full flexibility to lighting up the space & production requirements.

NANYANG POLYTECHNIC PRODUCTION STUDIO

Located at School of Interactive & Digital Media, Nanyang Polytechnic, AVLite has equipped this TV studio with 32 units of IFF motorised self-climbing lighting hoists, full range of studio Fresnels, fluorescent softlights as well as Chromakey and black wool serges. A full functional and multi-purpose TV studio well suited for the intended educational & training purpose.
